The celebration of National Space Day 2024 organised by Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, APSCS&T, Itanagar, was a remarkable success. The programme was graced by Director cum Member Secretary Shri C.D. Mungyak along with several other delegates from different schools.
The programme began with an insightful webinar on National Space Day by Shri P. Aravinda Kumar, Sci/Engr "SG" & Group Head, Bhuvan Content Generation Group, ISRO. His engaging presentation explored the latest advancements in space technology and the significant role of ISRO’s Bhuvan platform in space data management. The session provided valuable insights into India's space endeavors, inspiring the attendees and enhancing their understanding of the nation's space capabilities.
The programme also featured a vibrant painting competition with themes ranging from famous cartoon characters on the moon for classes I-V, to moon missions for classes VI-VIII, and space technology in India for classes IX-XII followed by a DIY Rocketry Show. The immersive planetarium show “Back to the Moon for good" was displayed for Parents, Teachers, and Students, exploring the history, science, and future of lunar exploration. Special screening of short movies on the theme “India’s Space Sage” provided by ISRO was also displayed for the attendees gaining insight into one of India’s most significant achievements in space exploration.
Over 200 students from various schools, including VKV Itanagar, VKV Chimpu, Rockford School, J.P. Public Shool, Govt. Hr. Sec School, ESS Sector, itanagar, Buny Fantasy World School, Govt. Primary School, ESS Sector, Donyi Polo School, Govt Middle School, Nitivihar, participated enthusiastically today.
The event was a week-long celebration, in observance of National Space Day and India Space Week since 15th august 2024 - 23rd August, 2024. It was aimed to enhance public understanding of space science and encourage the younger generation to pursue careers in science and technology. To accommodate the enthusiasm, the event featured three shows daily. Each day, visitors were able to attend:
1. Planetarium shows – 11am/1pm/3pm
2. Video shows on the theme – “India’s Space Saga” – 11am/1pm/3pm
During the week-long celebration, a total of more than 2000 visitors including general public and students attended the programme .
The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony today, highlighting the creative and intellectual contributions of the young participants.

Senior Category -
Class 9-12: Theme - Space Technology in India
1st Prize - Rakhi Yigam, Class-12, Mallo Tarin GHSS
2nd Prize - Tagru Yazum, Class-10, Mallo Tarin GHSS
3rd Prize - Rei Takar, J.P. Public School.
A total of 19 students won Consolation prizes.
