Description

In this video, you’ll see how to use Ansible for Debian 12 initial server setup and then install HestiaCP using Ansible. Instead of setting everything up manually, I’ll show you step by step how to automate the process with a playbook.

We’ll cover everything from setting up a new Vultr cloud server with Debian 12, creating an Ansible configuration, editing the inventory file, and securing your server with UFW firewall, Fail2Ban, unattended upgrades, and SSH key authentication. You’ll also learn how to enable swap memory, change the SSH port, and use an Ansible vault to securely store usernames, passwords, and sensitive details.

Once the server setup is complete, we’ll move on to installing Hestia Control Panel (HestiaCP) via Ansible using a role from Ansible Galaxy. I’ll show you how to edit the role variables to configure:

Admin username and password

Server hostname and email

Web server options (Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM, MultiPHP)

FTP options (vsftpd or proftpd)

Database support (MySQL / PostgreSQL)

Mail services (Exim, Dovecot, SpamAssassin, ClamAV)

SSL certificate generation

And setting the HestiaCP port (2083 by default)

By the end, you’ll have a fully automated Debian 12 server setup with HestiaCP installed — ready to host websites, WordPress, email, and more.
