The disaster of Cyclone Idai has lead to enormous loss of life, destroyed property and infrastructure, not only in Beira, but all the way up to Malawi and Zimbabwe.

The recovery from this disaster will take a long time, but fortunately the Beira Corridor, the economic motor of Central Mozambique and vital link for the Southern African hinterland, has proven to be resilient. The Port reopened 3 days after the cyclone. Two weeks after Ciclone Idai, the Beira Corridor is back on track and helping the region recover.
