In this video we breakdown a bull elk in the field. Its a great video to save in your favorites for when you need a cheat sheet yourself. This method was used to make a rug from the hide and breakdown all quarters and prime cuts to pack out. Getting a big animal down in the backcountry can be intimidating. However, if you organize your breakdown area, have everyone on a specific assignment and tackle it one side at a time you will be just fine!
*please note if you weren't going to rug the hide but instead use the cape to mount a shoulder mount you would want to make your long cut down the center of the back and top of neck so your taxidermist can sew it cleanly.
