This Mic Is So Much Better Than I Expected. I was not expecting this VM20 to be bad but I was certainly not expecting it to be as good as it is. This microphone not only sounds good but is very sensitive which is vital because some cameras and phones have really weak preamps and this microphone will be able to overcome that. You are also going to get some really nice features on this microphone like a two level low cut filter, 10 level step-less gain control dial and a built-in rechargeable battery that can be charged while using the mic. This mic also comes with a foam windscreen, a deadcat and a very effective shock mount. There is also an OLED screen on the mic displaying the battery life so you always know when it's time to recharge. There is also a 1/4-20 thread and cold shoe on the shock mount so you can mount this mic on camera or boom it overhead.
The one thing that I wish this mic had is the ability to turn on automatically when the camera it's connected to turns on. That feature would have made this mic my current favorite and to be honest it might be my current favorite anyway at least for camera mounted microphones. The VM20 is the right size, sounds good, has solid construction, and is considerably less expensive that comparable microphones.
