Buy it? The new for 2020 Lew's Tournament MP Speed Spool LFS

We are reviewing the new Lew's updated Tournament Speed Spool LFS for 2020. The older version of this baitcaster has been a workhorse for me over the years. The new one should perform even better.

The Lew's Tournament Speed Spool LFS has been an excellent mid priced baitcaster for years. I have used the MB Tournament Speed Spool for a long time now and absolutely love it. The reel has caught me tons of fish. I went to buy a few more of them but discovered that in 2020 Lew's discontinued the older MB and replaced it with the MP Tournament Speed Spool.

The major difference between the two include new styling with red accent on the reel. The new MP Speed Spool also has 20 pounds of drag which is a significant increase over the MB Speed Spool which only had 14 lbs of drag. Beyond that, the only real upgrades seem to be added texture on the reel grips which comes in handy in wet or cold conditions.

Both the older MB Tournament Speed Spool and the new MP Tournament Speed Spool have a multi setting brake system. This lets you really fine tune your breaking system. It's nice to be able to set the internal brakes by slipping off the side plate, but still have the ability to make smaller minor adjustments with the external braking dial.

Additionally, both the Tournaments Speeds spools use a 10 bearing system and are extremely smooth to cast and reel.
