On this last day of #NationalFarmSafetyandHealthWeek, we're focusing once more on the overall health of the farmer and the options they have available to help combat farm stress.

Mental health is an often-overlooked challenge farmers face nationwide. The American Farm Bureau Federation conducted a poll of rural farmers in December 2021, which found a majority of rural adults, farmers, and farm workers are experiencing more stress and mental health challenges than in previous years. Additionally, a majority agreed that availability, embarrassment, and stigma would be a barrier if they were seeking help for a mental health condition. How do we break down these barriers so our agricultural community gets the help they need? LDAF’s Stay Rooted Louisiana program believes telehealth is a good place to start.
