On June 5, 2017, former Vermont Governor & FirstNet Board member James Douglas participated in a Homeland Security podcast series entitled, “Intelligence. Unclassified” in Trenton, New Jersey. The series is jointly hosted by the National Governors Association’s (NGA) and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP). Eric Tysarczyk, Director of Policy and Planning and Preparedness (NJOHSP), and New Jersey Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to FirstNet conducted the 30-minute podcast with the Governor. Governor Douglas discussed the recent selection of AT&T as FirstNet’s partner to build the nationwide network, the upcoming delivery of state plans to the states and territories, and the governor’s decision to join the FirstNet network and how this decision will impact emergency interoperable communications, benefit first responders and keep communities safe.
