Saiga AK-47 7.62x39 Rifle: Shooting at the Range

Testing a Russian Saiga IZ132 7.62x39 AKM Sporter Rifle, chambered in 7.62x39 and imported by RWC Group at the gun range for accuracy. This unconverted sporter configuration ak rifle has become harder to find due to regulations on the manufacturer by the US.

Put 180 rounds through with zero malfunctions and some pretty decent groups at 50 yards and 100 yds. I included some footage of the accuracy test on the paper targets.

Only noticeable difference between this ak variant and others in my collection, is the unusual bullet case impressions made by the Russian stepped chamber that this Saiga AK Rifle has. It was a bullet identification law that affected a few years of Saiga AK Rifles that were imported. Essentially the "Stepped Chamber" Impression left on the 7.62x39 bullet case neck was a means of determining if the gun was a military or civilian version of the rifle. Overall an unconverted Saiga AK Rifle makes a great home diy project for converting to standard ak magazines holding 30-rounds, as well as moving the fire control group (ak trigger) to the correct position, replacing the buttstock along with the pistol grip from its original sporter style, as well as changing the handguards to standard akm furniture and installation of bullet guide to assist with feeding of the 30-round ak mags.
