Happy Wednesday movie lovers. For this week’s Reel Film Nerds podcast we catch up on a 2023 Best Picture nominee (https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremon...) The Fabelmans (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14208870/) written and directed by Steven Spielberg (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/) . This is a very personal story that took many years for Steven Spielberg (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/) to write and bring to film. The Fabelmans (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14208870/) is very closely based on Spielberg's (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_...) upbringing in Arizona (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona) and his love of creating films. The Fabelmans (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14208870/) is a lot deeper than that. It is also about family, resentment, lying, and truth. The film was beautifully shot and written, to be expected from Spielberg (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/) , but it also was acted extremely well. Michelle Williams (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0931329/) and Gabriel LaBelle (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5450413/) are incredible but Paul Dano (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0200452/) and even Seth Rogen (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0736622/) put on incredible displays too. The Fabelmans (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14208870/) is a must watch film if you love movies. Is it the Best Picture winner, we will find out in a few weeks. Matt gives the film 4 out of 5 Reels while Mike with an almost perfect score rates it 4.5 out of 5 Reels.
