Accountants who are interested in internal auditor can go for the CIA exam. There are actually special niches within internal auditing that you can consider. One of the more popular choices is CISA, which stands for Certified Information System Analyst.

The video above goes through the similarities and differences of the two certifications. Generally speaking, both are relevant to internal auditors. The institutes are both based in the US but are global qualification. Unlike the CIA exam, there is no prerequisite to take the CISA exam (yes, not even any education), but to compensate for this very relaxed entry level, the CISA qualification requires 5 years of relevant experience to complete the process.

This means that, while the ISACA, the administrator of the CISA exam and certification, welcomes anyone interested in Info system audit to join, in reality this is not an exam for beginners, but for professionals who have some experience in relevant field and want to further specialize in IS and IT audit.
