In an Olympic size win, India has won the Thomas Cup for the first time since its inception. Srikanth, a badminton player, defeated Jonathan, from Indonesia, the defending champions this year, with 14 wins overall. The score ended up at 3-0 in India's favour. As history is made in the country, the Sports Minister has announced a 1 crore INR cash award for the winning team. The team included Lakshya Sen, Satwik-Chirag and Kidambi Srikanth as the stars of the show. This is also a first for the Men's Badminton in the country. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have shared their congratulations to the team. Now the PM engages in a conversation with the champions via a phone call.
