Types of Catheter used in the Hospital

Описание к видео Types of Catheter used in the Hospital

The three main types of catheters used in hospitals are:
Indwelling catheters: These catheters are left in the bladder and come in two subtypes. The first, urethral catheters, are inserted through the patient's urethra. The second, suprapubic catheters, are surgically inserted through a small hole in the abdomen.
External catheters: Also called condom catheters, these are placed outside the body and are used for men with incontinence but no urinary retention.
Short-term catheters: Also called intermittent catheters, these are used by patients who only need a catheter temporarily, such as after an operation.
