We decided to make a Classic Cuban Sandwich using Broadway Joe's Pizza & Subs fresh-baked bread-and split the grilled hoagie between the staff at Broadway Joe's myself, and another friend.

Broadway Joe's bread has an excellent culinary crust and texture with a soft pillowy inside and sensational taste... We substituted the classic Serrano Ham from Spain with mouthwatering Prosciutto Crudo that we purchased at Ragonese Italian Imports—and filled the inside of our Cuban grilled panini with Manchego, a sheep's milk cheese from Spain available at Ragonese Imports on New Scotland Avenue, in Downtown Albany, New York.

In the Goosehill Neighorhood of Schenectady Lagioia Deli also sells Manchego cheese as well as The Cheese Traveler on Delaware Avenue, in Discover Albany...


Most jamón is commonly called Jamón Serrano in Spain. Jamón is the Spanish word for 'ham'. However, Serrano Ham has a thin leathery texture compared to Italian Prosciutto Crudo that is sliced thin, has a great mouthfeel, and has an extremely luscious taste with a softer texture!


Later the same night, I made the Classic Cuban Sandwich for my business partner and housemate with the Serrano Ham, instead of the Prosciutto Crudo. We shared the Cuban Sandwich, and I found the Serrano Ham from Spain to be leathery in texture.

Besides Broadway Joe's Pizza & Subs, we buy bread in the #rotterdamspoon area at places such as Capri Imports Italian Deli and Catering, Gabriel's Supermarket, JC’s Slice, and Sal's Quality Meats that carries Perreca's Bakery bread and Bella Napoli Bakery bread ...


We love the fresh-baked bread at Gabriel's Supermarket — especially their round Italian loaves of bread for making the Classic Sicilian Sandwich, THE MUFFALETTA — made with Mortadella, Soppressata, Antipasto Giardiniera, Italian cheeses, and other imported Italian cold cuts!


BTW: Gabriel's Supermarket in addition to their own fresh baked bread on the premises sells Bella Napoli bread—Yummy! You can also buy fresh butcher-cut pork for making the Classic Cuban at Gabriel's Supermarkets—simply pound out the pork and season it by rubbing the boneless thin pork cutlets with extra-virgin olive oil and Adobe® Seasoning before grilling for a minute on each side.
