Darren Foreman, known as Beardyman, is a Beatboxer, Musician, Live Looper, Voice actor and Technologist from London, UK. Combining beatboxing with music technology, Beardyman composes fully improvised music in real-time using only his voice.

Inspired at a young age by Michael Winslow in Police Academy, Darren's infatuation with making noises with his voice continued when he came across Rahzel, a pioneer in beatboxing. Performances from Tim Exile and MC Xander further solidified his love for the genre and helped inspire him to delve further into manipulating his voice.

Since then, he has made it his mission to create a rig that would allow his ideas to flow seemlessly from his mind to the microphone and be distorted and mangled into sounds that make it almost unrecognisable from his voice.

A long time user of RME, Darren's studio features two Fireface UFXs, whilst RME's Advanced USB Audio Interface the UCX II has found its home in his custom-designed live looping system.

We talk with Beardyman about getting started in beatboxing, gaining inspiration from interaction, the technical hurdles he overcame to create his rig and why RME's audio interfaces have long been the foundation of his live performance setup.
