Focus on the important

We love being busy. It gives us a sense of satisfaction. We feel we’re working hard and being productive. Don’t get me wrong, working hard is good. But the problem is we often work hard on things that have little value or don’t make a difference at all.
The survey of 5,000 highly successful people showed that they avoided being busy. Instead of working hard, they work smart.
They work only on the most important things of high value. Things that bring a lot of business, money and customers. These people just pick 2 or 3 of the most value-bringing projects. You should do that too. Take something really important and delegate the rest to your team.

Number # 2
Focus on the QUALITY, not the QUANTITY

We, humans, tend to focus on the results and ignore the journey. We want to finish everything as soon as possible. We rush to finish the homework so we won’t miss our favorite TV show.
But here’s the problem, quality requires time and effort. You can’t produce high-quality content if you rush through it. You must learn to fight the urge to rush and work long hours.
Do you know how long it took to paint the Mona Lisa? It took the greatest artist like Da Vinci four years! Four long years!

Tie yourself to a mast
As the ancient Greek story goes, the Greek hero Odysseus ordered his man to tie him tightly to a mast as they were sailing near the islands of sirens.
He knew that he wasn’t strong against the beautiful yet deadly singing women who killed thousands of sailors with their enchanting singing. So, he took precautions.
We should also recognize our weaknesses and tie ourselves tightly. When you work, remove every possible distraction. Turn off your phone or even the internet. Create a distraction-free zone for deep work.

Focus on Value, not Numbers.

How many times do you see young YouTube millionaires or gurus who brag about their wealth? “I made a million dollars this year, and you can do it too,” they usually say.
There’s nothing wrong being a millionaire in your twenties but they are not telling you the most important thing. It’s the value they created that made them millionaires, not money.
It’s true that few can become millionaires in their lifetime, but it’s also true that very few create massive value for others.

Shift your attitude from numbers and start focusing on the value. Don’t ask how you can make a million dollars, ask how you can create value for millions!

Solve problems.

If you look at successful people in any field, you will find problem solvers. Some created new platforms for people to reach out to each other, some invented electric cars. The bigger the problem they solved, the more success they got.
You too should start solving problems. Start with small problems you face every day. As you get better, you will solve bigger ones. Maybe, with some luck, you will be able to solve problems that so many couldn’t for so many years.
