How To Record A DJ Set using an iPhone 📲 RODE SC4 - CHEAP & EASY

Описание к видео How To Record A DJ Set using an iPhone 📲 RODE SC4 - CHEAP & EASY

Here's the cheapest way to record a dj mix- Vinyl or Digital DJ. This is how I record a DJ set from booth out on a Allen & Heath Xone 92 mixer, to an iPhone - You can use an Android phone and please try on another mixer too - as long as you have booth out and XLR as outputs. I did a video on this previously and wanted to give an easy to understand update, in 2 minutes! I have recorded so many DJ sets using this method and it just works - get the RODE SC4 magic cable & a few others.

Another suggestion is to use an amplifier with record out - then set your levels as per this video and run the cable from the amp. This will give the same result.. but then you can run speakers off booth out, on the mixer (just don't adjust the booth volume on the mixer). You can of course by a mobile recording device... but for £30, this is a bargain and gives you more money to spend on tunes... yesssss! Thanks for watching @djmumma xx

Why use booth out to record?
Use booth out on the mixer, as you can control the record level using the booth out volume control (if you use record out the output is high and you cannot adjust the output, which gives distorted sound).

You Need :
1x RODE SC4 3.5MM TRS TO TRRS ADAPTOR - this is the adapter cable you need!
1x lightning to headphone jack (make sure you buy an authentic one on on apple web site - there are so many fakes around and this will give issues, I have bought fakes and they are not good)
1x 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 RCA Phono Plugs Audio Cable Lead. Around £3
x2 SMALL to BIG Headphone Adapter Converter Plug 3.5mm to 6.35mm Jack Audio (Xone 92 mixer needs these - you may not)

This is using and Allen and Heath Xone 92 mixer, all mixers are a bit different, though. You will need to adjust the booth out volume, either up or down a little. A small bit of experimentation and you should be good, whatever you mixer. The settings on the Xone 43 are similar to the demo in the video.

Self Preservation Society - Hand Crafted (Morena Vibe mix) Strongroom Records 1995
If an old record sounds this good, then that's got to be a winner :)

Let me know how you get on in the comments. Any questions, just ask. I hope you will check out some of the mixes on the channel too, as I say, they are recorded using this method.

For Gigs:
Booth out will more than likely be in use at live gigs , so not an option. For this scenario, best to buy a recording device: Tascam DR-40X Four Track Audio Recorder (very good quality and around £185).

Kit Used:
Technics 1210's, Allen & Heath Xone 92 mixer, a Rode SC4 adapter and an iPhone.
