A heart-shaped mountain towers above Uummannaq, a remote island in Greenland located about 600 km north of the Arctic Circle. In winter, the surrounding fjord freezes solid — making it possible to walk across the frozen ocean. Towering peaks, endless Arctic landscapes, and the surreal experience of traveling over sea ice made this one of the most unforgettable polar journeys I’ve ever taken.

From dramatic mountain scenery to daily life in a remote Greenlandic community, Uummannaq is a dream destination for Arctic and landscape photography. ❄️📸

During this Greenland trip I also explored Ilulissat, went dogsledding across Arctic terrain, slept in an igloo, and stayed in the aurora cabins at Hotel Arctic — one of the most unique winter travel experiences I’ve ever had.
