PSO2 New Genesis Version 2 // Low Graphics - Windows on Steam Deck LCD Gameplay

#steamdeckgameplay How well does this epic Sega favourite - Phantasy Star Online New Genesis Version 2 play on a Steam Deck LCD, via a Windows 10 partition on the internal SSD?

This is one of my favourite old franchises from the Dreamcast days and I've been dying to get a fully fledged handheld version on some kind of handheld over the years, and realistically - its here! Only 23 years later 😅

The Good:
If you're a PSO fan, or MMO fan - this game is a must have. We'll power through this at some point soon
Even at low settings, visually it looks great! FPS holds well
After the first big boot it runs well and loading times are heavily reduced

The Not so good:
Text size is woeful, but I'm sure you can change this in settings
Install size is huge!
First load of the game took over 10 minutes, so I cut it out. I also cut out the character design as it is super comprehensive and this channel is about showcasing how something performs, not what maid outfit I'm choosing 😆
The micro-stutters are very prevalent but can likely be alleviated with tweaking and repeat play

Note that we used a MKB setup for this one, otherwise you'd likely be able to map controls in Handheld Companion or Steam Deck tools.

Key things we're looking at:
Running around slowly and quickly panning the camera angle
CPU/GPU load and temps in different scenarios
If there's night and day or weather scenarios - comparing performance in different light
Particles and effects when in combat, gliding/swinging or breaking things in game etc.

Running on a clean install of Windows 10, no debloating, no custom stuff - just a Windows 10 install on the SSD, the standard drivers supplied by Valve, Steam Deck tools and on AC power in this video.
