Aug 31 -- A.M. scenes from the 42nd Okinawan Festival, a 2-day event over the Labor Day weekend, held at the Hawaii Convention Center located at the intersections of Kalakaua Ave, the main street of Waikiki, Kapiolani Blvd and Atkinson Drive. The Festival featured daily programs of Okinawan music, dancing, food and cultural do-it-yourselves (DIY) workshops and displays, all on the ground floor. There is even a mini-“izakaya” ORION/Awamori Beer Garden.
