Komm und Tanz … Die Goldene Sieben (Berlin, May 1939 /4K/Colorized)

Описание к видео Komm und Tanz … Die Goldene Sieben (Berlin, May 1939 /4K/Colorized)

Today's video features the song "Komm und tanz" (Lit Come and dance) which was composed by Georg Haentzschel for the 1939 movie "Menschen vom Varieté" (Show People). This musical melodrama directed by Josef von Baky and filmed in Budapest starred La Jana, Christl Mardayn, Karin Hardt and Atila Hörbiger in the leading roles. Von Baky and Haentzschel worked together on a number of films including the legendary "Münchhausen" (1943). "Komm und tanz" is heard in various variations throughout the movie. It is sung by the "McLean Sisters" (Christl Mardayn, Karin Hardt and Edith Oss) and is heard in the finale as well. Although Christl Mardayn (1896-1971) did sing and made a number recordings between 1935 and 1952, her singing voice in "Menschen vom Varieté" was dubbed by the singer Doddy Delissen.

This recording of "Komm und tanz" by the great "Goldene Sieben" orchestra features the song's composer (and arranger) Georg Haentzschel on the piano as well as Willy Berking , Kurt Hohenberger, Franz Thon, Freddy Brocksieper, Kurt Wege, Adalbert Luczkowski, Hans Korseck and Rudi Wegener (Source : Lange).

This video combines the 78rpm release with sequences from "Menschen vom Varieté". These sequences have been restored and upscaled to a 4K resolution using Topaz Video Enhance AI. They were then colorized (purely for entertainment purposes) in Adobe Photoshop. I do not claim the colorization to be historically correct but it does give an impression of what the sets and costumes may have looked like. I

The record was transferred with a Graham Slee Revelation phono preamp combined with an Ortophon Om78 element and stylus. Further editing was done in Adobe Audition.
