The Netherlands: a walk with tidal in Biesbosch National Park

Описание к видео The Netherlands: a walk with tidal in Biesbosch National Park

In the year 1421 De Biesbosch (“rushwoods”) was formed, when a vast swath of drained and cultivated land became inundated with seawater in the devastating St. Elizabeth’s flood. Today, De Biesbosch National Park constitutes about half of what is one of the last extensive areas of seawater tidal wetlands in Europe. The tidal difference is about 76 cm (2.5 feet). The area as an inland river delta has resulted in an expansion of habitat for many animals like the beaver, great and little egret, bitterns, kingfishers, ospreys and white-tailed eagle.
During the walk you will see a maze of rivers, creeks and islands shaded by willow forest and you will hear many singing birds.
