"The main element of the system is a camera attached to the frame of a pair of glasses. The camera directly registers the user's eye movement, which is sent to a operating interface connected to a PC and is translated into information. It ends up on the PC's "keyboard".

21. SOUNDBITE: (Czech) Marcela Fejtova, Team leader at the Department of Cybernetics at Prague's Technical University's Faculty of Electrical Engineering:
"This device was primarily designed to help disabled people to use a computer. During the process of development we realised that such a system can be used in many other applications; disabled people can control several things like a bed or a wheelchair, the system can be also used in medical practices, as a tool of diagnostics or therapy."
22. Various of toy car being controlled by operator's eye movement
23. SOUNDBITE: (Czech) Marcela Fejtova, Team leader at the Department of Cybernetics at Prague's Technical University's Faculty of Electrical Engineering:
"There some innovations with a similar ambition, however none of them have created a device that offers such a variety of solutions, (that is so) well modified, user-friendly and open for upgrades. I think all those qualities are our big advantage."
24. Peter Dusek talking to Marcela Fejtova
25. SOUNDBITE: (Czech) Peter Dusek:
"It would be great if I could read the newspapers. You know when people read for you, it's always about subjects that they are interested in, and you have to listen. I would like to select the article. If I could use the phone and talk to people with similar problems and also with healthy people, that would be great. Otherwise someone like me is cut off from the outside world and nailed to bed."

LEAD IN:
New technology is enabling people with paralysis or disabilities to use a computer - using their eyes.
Scientists at Prague's Technical University have developed a device that records a person's eye movement and translates it into digital information, on a computer screen, enabling them to control objects.
STORYLINE:
A muscle disease, left 55 year old Peter Dusek confined to a wheelchair for the last two years, able to control only the movements of his shoulders and head.
Dusek is dependant on his wife and other people for his everyday needs.
Fejtova explains that the main element of the device is a camera attached to the frame of a pair of glasses.
