Hey, I'm Marco Brown with Brown Law. I wanted to go over the two most common schedules a parent time schedules for people who share 5050 custody with their kids. So 5050 custody is really in Utah. It's who gets overnights with children, right?

So somebody has 182 overnights and somebody has 183 overnights. So what does that look like? Really, there are two major schedules that parents follow. one is called week on, week off. So the kids are with a parent an entire week, and then they're with the other parent the next week.

And then you just rotate those weeks. Maybe in the summer, you change that up a little bit so you can go on vacations, but you're just you're exchanging weeks. And what you do is you find the time that you're going to exchange the children every week.

So maybe it's 7:00 on a Sunday night or maybe two after school on a Monday. So you take the kids to school and then the other parent picks him up on Monday, and then they take him to school on Monday, the next week, and you pick him up from school on Monday.

Whatever works for you and your family is how people do the 550. So that's the first one. The second one is called a 225. Really, the idea behind this is that somebody always has Monday, Tuesday, every week. And so the kids are always in one house on Monday to use the same house.

Then the other parent has Wednesday, Thursday every week. So the kids are always in the same house on Wednesday, Thursday and then you exchange the weekends. So it's a two, two and a five. The nice thing about this one is that depending on your kids, you know, they may want stability in the sense they always know where

they're going to be on a Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday or Thursday. Like with my son, if my wife and I were to get divorced, he wouldn't care. He'd be fine with a week on, week off because he's super flexible kid.

OK, so that's our oldest. But our three year old might not like that, so he might like a two to five. So really, you have to go through and assess with your family and your kids. Like, which one are they going to respond to better?

Are they going to respond to the week on, week off or two to five? So those are the most common 550 schedules? I'll give you one bonus one here. I call it the crazy, which is you're just kind of making stuff up as you go along.

You have to do this with nurses sometimes or pilots, people with really highly variable work schedules that change all of the time. What we do is we just come up with, OK, this parent is going to get this number of days in this parent.

The other parent is going to get this number of days. And then you just have to kind of have to make it work every month and that becomes really difficult to do. But you know, we've done that before, and especially with pilots and flight attendants, this is absolutely necessary because their schedules are so insane.

Sometimes we have to do this with doctors. But you know, I call it the crazy. We can make it work, but you have to reassess literally every month. And that becomes pretty difficult. But you know, kids tend to get used to that after a little while.
