The infamous Starrcade '87: Chi-Town Heat. A chaotic hot and cold year is coming to an end, and it's Thanksgiving night in New Orleans. In Spring, Jim Crockett Promotions had bought Bill Watts' Universal Wrestling Federation, and attempted to run it as a separate territory. Although, at this point, the writing was spray-painted and plastered on the wall. About 1600 fans came to the UNO Lakefront Arena to watch Starrcade on closed circuit, which also featured live matches. Above is the promo for the show, as it aired on WGNO-TV. There did end up being some changes, as the results below will show. Which is what happens when General Skandor Akbar says I'm out, and the steel cage you ordered doesn't show up. There were so many moving parts at this time, and so many going in the wrong directions.

UWF Tag Team Champions the Sheepherders (with their flagbearer Johnny Ace) defeated the Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) by disqualification, when Horner grabbed the flagpole from Ace and used it as a weapon. The match was advertised as The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal) in a steel cage match against the Sheepherders, but neither Champion nor the cage showed
