TORTA AL TESTO by Umbria

It has ancient traditions this dish poor nopstra Umbrian cuisine! The cake to the text, a sort of ancient unleavened bread, was born precisely in substitution of bread. Originally made with very few simple ingredients, such as flour, water, salt and baking soda, then it was also enriched with cheese, oil and yeast (in some recipes, even milk).
In our part you eat often, it is one of the most popular dishes in the family or in the village festivals, stuffed with good meats and cheeses, but also with sausages and cooked grass!
The old brick text has been replaced by the cast iron text, but it can also be prepared on a flat plate. You can indulge in the filling, but it is delicious on its own!
