Butter Naan:

Butter naan is definately the most popular bread or roti in Indian restaurant. Tawa naan is much easier to make. Butter naan turns out really soft and it tastes great. It goes well with Chole, palak paneer, chicken gravy dish etc. We use to eat naan when we went to restaurant or at weddings. It is made with basic ingredients like flour, oil, curd etc. One can make naan with or without yeast. in this simple recipe I am using Iron Tawa (Do not use non sticky tawa) instead of Tandoor or Oven. This tawa butter naan recipe is really delicious and supersoft.

Ingredients:
----------------

Maida or all purpose flour - 2 Cup
Sugar - 1 tsp
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Refined oil - 2 tsp
Curd or yougurt - 1/2 Cup
Butter - 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves (Chopped) - 2 tbsp
Black sesame seed - 2 tbsp
Lukewarm water as required

Method / Process :
----------------------

In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cup of all purpose flour or maida, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp refined Oil & 1/2 Cup Curd.
Mix all the ingredients together.
Now add lukewarm water to knead the dough as required.
Knead to very soft and smooth dough by adding more water, if required.
Knead the dough for 8 - 10 minutes.
Apply some oil and cover it.
Rest for 2 hours or more in a warm place for fermentation.
After 2 hours, knead the dough slightly again.
Make a ball sized dough.
Dust the flour and flatten the dough.
Sprinkle some sesame seed and coriander leaves.
Tips : Sesame seeds and coriander leaves are optional.
Roll it slightly and then flip it over (make sure coriander leaves & sesame seeds part faces down)
Gently roll to oval or circle shape.
The naan should not be too thin or too thick.
Brush with water over naan roti(It helps naan to stick on tawa).
Heat the iron tawa & check it should be moderate hot.
Do not use non stick tawa as it slips while reversing.
Slowly flip the Naan and put it on hot tawa(the water coated side down to tawa).
Gently press the naan with finger.
After a minute, bubbles form and colour changes(It means, it cooked from one side).
Now flip the tawa upside down and cook naan directly on flame till the brown spot appears & puffs up.
Gently scrape the naan from bottom with spatula & keep it in a plate.
Brush some butter or ghee to make naan stay soft for longer duration.
Finally serve naan hot with Paneer, Paneer butter masala, Chole & Chicken gravy.
