That's exciting news about Proxima and their upcoming game, Lumari! Lumari is described as a social sandbox adventure game, combining elements from popular titles like Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and Minecraft. The game studio has secured $1.6 million in pre-seed funding, with London Venture Partners leading the investment round and participation from other notable investors like Konvoy Ventures, Progression Fund, Valhalla Ventures, Maveron LLC, and Artichoke Capital.

Ran Mo, the founder of Proxima and a former lead product manager at Electronic Arts (EA), has gathered a team of experienced game industry veterans from companies like Riot, Storm8, Wildlife Studios, and Unity to work on Lumari. The majority of the funding will be allocated towards the development of the game, which is still in its early stages.

While specific details about Lumari are currently undisclosed, Mo mentioned that players will have the ability to interact with each other, chat, and collaborate on building various things within the game's sandbox environment. Collecting creatures, building homes and habitats, cultivating gardens, and exploring a vast world will also be key features. Customization will play a significant role, allowing players to personalize their characters and creatures.

Lumari aims to provide a space for players to express themselves and connect with others. The game will have combat elements as well, as depicted in the trailer, where players will encounter purple-colored beings. The launch of Lumari is not expected for another two years or more, according to Mo's statement.

To give players a taste of the game, Lumari will have its first community playtest starting on June 15 and ending on July 15. The initial playtest will be single-player, and interested participants can sign up at playlumari.com. Currently, the playtest is only available for Windows PC users, but when Lumari officially launches, it will be available on more platforms and devices.
