Howard Cosell appeared on The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers on January 13, 1987. He talked about his long involvement with boxing as a commentator over the years and declares that he now is no longer a fan of boxing as of Thanksgiving 1982. He mentioned the boxing matches of Ray Boom Boom Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim and Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello as contributing to his decision.

Cosell also discusses Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Henry Tillman, steroids in sports, the upcoming Super Bowl & the New Jersey Giants, and Monday Night Football. He was also promoting his autobiography "I Never Played The Game", then out in paperback.
