This is an airsoft BB counter that I made for my AKS-74u. Basically there is a sensor at the end of the barrel that checks if a BB has gone past, if it has then the BB count is decreased and displayed accordingly on a 7-segment 3-digit display. All of this is achieved with the help of an ATtiny85 micro, a voltage comparator and the MAX7219 display driver.

NOTE: To anyone using the (OLD VERSION) schematics, there is a couple of missing pull-up resistors on pin 2 & 3 of the ATtiny which are shown to be installed in the picture of the circuit board, but are missing in Veroboard.png. I will try and fix this later, but as I am working on v2 of the circuit this probably won't happen for a while. This new version looks at adding an identity for each magazine, using a more efficient (switching) voltage regulator, and will hopefully come on its own PCB.



UPDATE: Well sorry fellas but I won't be coming back to the new version of the schematic any time soon. Reason for this is that I have just moved to Australia for postgraduate study, and currently airsoft is banned here. I have however uploaded my latest revision of the BB counter (Schematic v2 folder in the file below), this includes the updated schematic as well as PCB layout for you to use as you wish. The circuit itself should be functional, but the code provided will need to be updated to include the magazine ID function. Also if you do plan to stay with the ATtiny85, then you will need to make the reset pin an I/O (http://goo.gl/UybSYl).
