Around the 8th of May 1945 many European countries celebrated VE-Day, Victory in Europe Day. For these countries the war was over when Germany capitulated in the presence of among other General Montgomery on the German Lüneburg heath.

However, it would take another 3 months before this war would come completely to an end. Japan refused to surrender and it took massive American bombardements of Japan's major cities plus two atomic bomb strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki before the Japanese Emperor finally gave in on 15 August 1945

Now in 2025 the world celebrates the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, Victory over Japan day. American president Truman announced Japan's unconditional surrender after which festivities broke out all over the World.

This rare film has been meticulously restored with the latest A.I. video software and thus shows christal clear and in vibrant colours how people in London celebrated this historic event.
