With its countless channels, rivers, and streams, the Spreewald or Spree Forest is a fascinating destination that’s only an hour’s train ride from Berlin. DW's Hannah Hummel explored the Spreewald with its myths and legends in a very environmentally friendly way — by boat, canoe, and bike. She enjoyed this huge wetland landscape that today – like elsewhere – is struggling with the consequences of climate change.
