When a Song became the courage of South India…

PM ‪@NarendraModi‬ reminded the House of how Vande Mataram held a special place in the freedom movement of South India. In 1907, V. O. Chidambaram Pillai’s Swadeshi ship proudly sailed with Vande Mataram written on it, carrying the spirit of a nation hoping for freedom. The great poet Subramanya Bharathi translated this song into Tamil, which inspired courage and devotion among patriots. He also wrote India’s flag song, describing a flag that carried Vande Mataram, and called on every patriot to stand tall, salute the motherland, and honour the spirit of freedom.
