Yinchuan's urban area mainly consists of three districts: Xingqing District, Jinfeng District, and Xixia District. The boundary between Xingqing and Jinfeng Districts is primarily the Tanglai Canal, while the boundary between Jinfeng and Xixia Districts is the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway line. Xingqing District is the old city commercial area, Jinfeng District is the administrative area, and Xixia District is the university town industrial area. This ride was mainly conducted in Xingqing District, the old city commercial area. Yinchuan's streets are bike-friendly, with most roads having non-motorized vehicle lanes.
