Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Planning (HACCP) -- Reducing the risk of
spreading invasive species in natural resource activity pathway. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) planning is a tool to reduce this risk of moving invasive species during natural resource activities. HACCP maps out the tasks of an activity based on a brief description of the activity. When a task is determined to have a significant risk for moving an invasive species, control measures are put in place to reduce this significant risk. Specific information about the controls is recorded in order to ensure that the control measure is in place and operating as intended.

Jonathan Thompson is a biologist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Pacific Southwest Region (California, Nevada, and the Klamath Basin), Aquatic Invasive Species Program. Thompson's focus is on preventing, managing and controlling invasive species. One of his main duties is to coordinate invasive species workshops within the USFWS Pacific Southwest Region.
