India summons Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi over attacks on Sikh community: Sources

A Sikh community member on June 24 was shot dead after unidentified armed assailants opened fire at him. As per sources, India has asked Pakistani authorities to investigate the case and share the details with India. India lodged strong resentment against the incidents taking place against the Sikh community in Pakistan. Meanwhile, India on June 26 summoned Pakistan High Commission official over the increase in attacks against minorities. As Pakistan continues to lean toward Islamic conservatism, minorities are battling for survival in the country. India's action came after four such incidents took place between April-June in 2023 against the Sikh community. In December 2022, Pakistan was designated by the United States as a "country of particular concern". Furthermore, Islamabad failed to act against perpetrators of violence against minorities to act with impunity.
