So what is probably my biggest steam adventure yet started on Thursday 26th September at Solihull Station where I captured the castles passing through on their way south to Bristol ready for the following day before jumping on the next train into Birmingham Moor Street to catch my connecting train at Birmingham New Street down to Taunton and onto Wellington via bus.
The following day the weather was a bit poor on the morning so I held off for a bit at the hotel before heading to Whiteball hoping to capture them passing but didn't realise a high green metal fence had been installed on arriving so I headed a bit before into a random field to capture them and I'm glad I was there as it was great for a quick change of plan.
For the return I was intending on staying at Whiteball but I decided I'd have a walk and found a cracking foot crossing but was worried about darkness as timings went a bit mad so I headed to Tiverton Parkway Station and only just caught it passing through as I didn't know exactly where they were but better than missing it fully.
The Saturday morning would involve me getting up at 3.45am and attempting taxi's to get to Taunton for the 1st train so I could get to Stourbridge Junction in time to see 44871 so my 6 hour journey from hotel to Stourbridge Junction was totally worth the early start.
After the pass I decided to head home with my suitcase and unnecessary things before heading back to Old Hill Station to see the return journey with ‪@LiamsLocos‬. It was brilliant to see ‪@blackcountrysteamvideos8021‬ on the footplate passing by and made sure we had a show and sight opening her regulator fully.
It was a long and tiring couple of days but totally worth it 👌
Thank you to everyone involved in making these tours happen 🚂😍
