I’m going to show you how I’ve been cutting my own hair for over 6 years. I first learned to cut my hair before I went into university because I didn’t know how often I’d come back to visit my barber at home. Today, I’m still cutting my own hair and I have not gone to a barbershop ever since! Follow along as I take you through the tools I use, and the steps I take to get a perfect fade every time!

TOOLS:
• Clipper: Oster Fast Feeds
• Attachments: Andis double magnetic guards
• Shears: Any generic brand from a pharmacy store
• Comb: Andis clipper comb (you can get a similar one from a hair products store (e.g. Sally’s))
• Trimmer: Andis T-Outliner
• Brush: Any generic brush from a dollar store
• Spray bottle: Any spray bottle from a dollar store
• Clipper Lub/Disinfectant: Andis Cool Care

Guidelines and steps I make in the video (for a bald fade):
1. Start with a 2 guard (closed) to remove bulk around the side of the head. Do not follow the curvature of your head at the top if you intend to keep the sides straight. Instead, cut straight up and out.
2. No guard (closed) up half way on the head (or to your desired start point)
3. No guard (open) up half an inch
4. 1 guard (open) fading into the 2 guard area
5. No guard (half way) fading down to no guard closed at the line made between no guard (closed) and no guard (open)
6. 0 guard (open) fading down to 0 guard (closed) at the line between 1 guard (open) and no guard (open)
7. Clean up any dark spots
8. Even out the top of the sides missed by the 2 guard (open) with shears
9. Trim the top with shears
