Choctaw Open presents their show, "Pretty in Pink" that seeks to bring awareness to the overarching pressure young females feel in a society focused on the idea and constant pursuit of being "pretty". Utilizing a darker floor aesthetic to create contrast, the costumes, inspired by Alaia Spring 1991, help create a high fashion aesthetic while encompassing the female energy through bright shades of pink. As you move through the show we have designed the music to start in a manner of perceived positivity with, Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson which is representative of how young females appear from the outside, to the next song, Unpretty by TLC, focusing on how they actually feel and finally ending with the signature Pretty Hurts by Beyonce. Through this show we seek to inspire, not only our performers, but young woman everywhere to embrace who they are and to embody the undeniable leaders they are meant to be.
