Adam & The Ants - Plastic Surgery

Описание к видео Adam & The Ants - Plastic Surgery

Check out my channel for lots more Ant music, along with tons of Wire etc.
Synced to studio version.
Amalgamation & resynching of the 2 different clips
of the band performing this song, plus a little bit of footage from the film.
From the 1978 Derek Jarman film 'Jubilee' of course.

I made this video for Susan on the occasion of her 51st birthday.

Clips used;
1) Low fidelity support video footage for the Derek Jarman film 'Jubilee' of the Ants (with Kenny Morris guesting on drums as Dave Barbe was unavailable*) playing live in an empty studio.
This video was used in the film as a television screen image in the scene of Ant's character Kid watching himself and his band performing on the TV.
2) The performance of the song, filmed at Drury Lane Theatre and featured 52 mins into the film to represent Kid's audition for media mogul character Borgia Ginz.
Only 1½ mins of the performance is featured in the film.
Dave Barbe is present on this occasion, to great effect.

Mark Ryan is the guitarist & Andy Warren exudes effortless cool on the bass, as always.

*Post-Script; I just came across an interview with Mark Ryan in which he states the following;
'The first session we did for the film was a video shoot in a tiny studio. The Ant line up at the time was me, Adam, Andy Warren and Paul Flanagan on drums. Paul was from White City and had White City problems. He didn't turn up for the shoot (Deutscher Girls on a television set in the film) so Kenny Morris from the Banshees filled in and Paul got sacked. Adam asked me if I knew any other drummers because we were due to play at Hornsey College of Art. I got my friend Dave Barbe in who played by ear. Adam was well impressed'.

Later we filmed Plastic Surgery in Drury Lane and I got tangled in Adam's bondage suit. We took it again but Jarman preferred the accident. Incidentally Derek Jarman was one of the nicest people it has ever been my privilege to meet. Years after Jubilee he crossed the road to shake my hand, remembering my name and where he knew me from. A great loss.
