Here’s an explanation, since this video is slightly all over the place-
(Disclaimer most of this isn’t canon, and also the next paragraphs are slightly hard to read..)

When George is asleep, he subconsciously ‘shifts’ to a place similar to the Inbetween. This isn’t a real place, since it is all in George’s dream. When George ‘wakes up’ he returns back to the DreamSMP world.
Keep in mind, that George doesn’t disappear from his ‘dream world’ when he’s awake.
When he’s awake in the ‘real world’, his ‘dream world’ self is asleep, and when he’s asleep in the ‘real world’, his ‘dream world’ self is awake.
DreamXD protects George whilst George is in a sleeping state, because without George he can’t survive, since DreamXD is a part of George’s dreams.
In the video, DreamXD wakes George up from his (George’s) dream, because in the ‘real world’ (aka the DreamSMP), George’s house is burning down.
This goes back to the incident of when Tommy and Ranboo accidentally set George’s house on fire, which is further confirmed in the video, by the sign ‘- Bad & Skeppy’, that Ranboo left after both him and Tommy ‘robbed’ George.

This is a head-canon of mine, which would explain why George is always ‘asleep’. George sleeps to escape reality, which is also the reason as to why DreamXD looks like Dream. George’s subconscious made DreamXD look like that, because George misses Dream.

I’m sorry if this explanation wasn’t of much help, I tried to explain it in the best way I could, but as you may have realised, I am shit at explaining things ‘:D
