This video has been digitized from Super 8 movies that I shot during the summer of 1969. It contains the following scenes: (1) the westbound Coast Daylight is shown near Grover, CA; (2) it’s early morning at LAUPT just after the arrival of the Sunset from New Orleans (the motive power that morning was an F-unit and an E-unit); (3) an SDP45 backs into the station then leaves with the Oakland-bound San Joaquin Daylight; (4) a UP switcher begins to make up the westbound Coast Daylight while another UP switcher spots an SP baggage car at the Post Office Terminal Annex; (5) the first UP switcher pulls the Sunset cars from the station (with added cars for the Coast Daylight); (6) the F and E units that brought the Sunset into LA back out of the station; (7) a UP switcher brings the Coast Daylight cars into the station after turning the consist; (8) a UP switcher pulls two SP baggage cars from one of the Post Office Terminal Annex tracks and moves the cars to the Coast Daylight consist; (9) an FM switcher idles at San Luis Obispo; and (10) the eastbound Coast Daylight arrives San Luis Obispo.
