Balendra Shah, popularly known as Balen, is the current #mayor of #Kathmandu and a former rapper turned structural engineer and independent politician.

Elected in 2022, he became the first independent candidate to win the mayoral post in the capital city.

Shah holds a master's degree in structural engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in #Karnataka, #India.

Known for his outspoken and assertive leadership, he has championed anti-corruption measures, urban reforms, and transparency in governance.

Widely admired by Nepal’s youth, especially the #GenZ generation, Shah has emerged as a prominent political figure during the ongoing anti-corruption protests and is seen by many as a potential future prime minister candidate.
