Picking the right pet food can be challenging.

3. Reputation and credibility of the brand.
4. Compliance with AAFCO nutrient profiles.
5. Affordability and suitability for your budget.
6. Acceptability and tolerance by your pet.

I'm neutral in brand preference if these criteria are met.

AAFCO, or the Association of American Feed Control Officials, sets standards and guidelines for pet food in the U.S. They don't regulate but establish nutritional standards most pet food companies follow. "Formulated to meet AAFCO standards" on pet food labels indicates a complete and balanced nutrient content.

So, when shopping for pet food, choose a diet that fits your budget, appeals to your pet, is appropriate for their life stage, and meets AAFCO standards. If your pet enjoys it without any adverse reactions like vomiting, diarrhea or *gas*, you've made a good choice! Some pets may not tolerate the diet you have chosen and that is OK, you can always try a different brand or formulation (but please transition them slowly over 5-7+ days).
