Embattled Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Mohammed Choudhury’s resignation takes effect October 6.

Choudhury is stepping down after just two years as the state superintendent of schools, marking the end of a tumultuous term. He made the announcement following a series of Project Baltimore investigations that raised serious questions over transparency within the Maryland State Department of Education and potential violations of state law.

In a final goodbye this week, Choudhury penned an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun, touting what he calls “important progress.” But Project Baltimore took a closer look at his performance.
