Video Challenge #5 was an actual challenge for me. A part of the challenges that I enjoy is the challenge of taking action, and actually doing the challenge. That is, making the time to create.

In this challenge, we had to make a 1-minute video with sound design. This was a good challenge to practice some foley sound and sound design. To really get an understanding of how video and sound really work together. Some argue that sound makes up 60% of the video watching experience. What are your thoughts?

Here are the official rules for this challenge:

Sound Challenge:
• Must create a video under one minute
• using only natural sound or folly
• NO STOCK SFX, all sound must be recorded in camera or audio recorder
• The video must have a sequence or event
EX: making something or process, going somewhere,
this can also be featuring an item or place
• No Dialogue (ambient sound with distant/unrecognizable voices is ok)
• No titles/graphics
• transitions are ok, but no SFX unless they are created
• No Music bed

Again, since I was on a real time crunch to meet the deadline (part of why I enjoy the challenges), I shot something at the apartment. My video is a quick look at getting ready to seize the day... Let's call this one "Carpe Diem."

I really enjoyed this challenge, because I want to experiment more with sound and design. None of the sounds in this video were in camera, all sounds were recorded on a separate recording device at a different time from the video shooting and then synched or matched in editing.
