In January 2018, a team made up of 2 former Royal Marines walked the length of the Orange River in Southern Africa, from source to sea – raising funds Veterans for Wildlife & The Royal Marines Charity.

The two former 'Bootnecks' completed the 2,500 kilometers completely unaided and unsupported, as they paseds through three countries, Lesotho, South Africa and Namibia. Starting in the mountains of Lesotho, the route followed the river from the source to where the river reaches the Atlantic Ocean.
