Описание к видео Spanish-American Diplomacy During the American Revolution: A Celebration of Friendship

The American Revolution Institute of the Society of the Cincinnati, The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute and the Embassy of Spain in the United States host a celebration of Spanish-American friendship at the international headquarters of the Society of the Cincinnati, Anderson House, to commemorate the signing of the Treaty of Aranjuez on April 12, 1779, a document that marked Spain’s formal pledge of support to France in its war with Great Britain in an alliance that contributed decisively to American independence. Guests are welcomed by Andy Morse, executive director of the American Revolution Institute,  and Begonia Santos, executive director of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, before an address given by the Ambassador of Spain to the United States, His Excellency Santiago Cabanas. Following the introductory remarks, guest lecturers Dr. Larrie D. Ferreiro, professor of history at George Mason University, and Dr. Richard L. Kagan, professor emeritus of history at Johns Hopkins University discuss the role and legacy of Spanish-American diplomacy during the American Revolution.
