SJPLA has partnered with Dr. Melina Abdullah, co-founder of the Los Angeles Chapter of Black Lives Matter and Professor of Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, to bring you ‘bell hooks: Black Feminism and Womanism as Liberatory Practice.’

During this 8-week community course, we immerse ourselves in bell hooks, engage in a collective read and discussion of three of her most important books along with excerpts from other works and lectures. We explore what it means to embody Black feminism and womanism, what it means to walk in the world as our whole and complete selves, and what it means to radically love.

Week 1 was held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 7pm PT. on the topic "Course Introduction/Syllabus Review".
