Euphoria Telecom, a leading provider of business phone systems, is a proud sponsor of the Overberg BMX Club, located 122km from Cape Town.

Many of the club’s members are under-18s who come from impoverished communities where alcohol and drug abuse is prevalent, and where opportunities for young people are few and far between. BMXing gives these youngsters access to an action-packed sport that is purposeful and physically challenging.

The Overberg BMX Club loans bikes and equipment to young members who do not have the means to pay for gear themselves. Coaching, team clothing, and support is also provided free of charge. BMXing is the only positive outlet for many of these rising stars and they approach each local and provincial race with grit, gratitude and determination.

In 2021 Euphoria Telecom stepped in to support the club with ongoing track maintenance, branding and fundraising.

Euphoria’s National Marketing Manager, Lauren Pybus, says that sponsoring the Overberg BMX Club was a natural fit for the company.

‘Euphoria is committed to supporting individuals and initiatives that make a measurable difference on a grassroots level. For us it’s all about fostering strong community-centric connections,’ says Pybus. ‘We have backed the Overberg BMX Club since 2021 because we can see the progress its members are making month after month and year after year. It’s been amazing to watch the club’s riders progress through the ranks especially when you consider the steep challenges that some members face in their daily lives. It’s really inspiring.’

Euphoria’s primary contribution to club has been through the provision of a shipping container that is currently being used to store track maintenance equipment and spare bikes. But the broader vision for the club involves transforming the container into a working clubhouse with its own viewing pavilion.
